How it Works - What is required of you?

Pet Boarding

You look after client's pet(s) in your home. The client provides all food and bedding and any toys etc. Your duty is to love, walk, feed, water and groom the pet just as you would your own. You maintain the pet(s) routine in the owner's absence.

Pet Visiting

You look after pet(s) in their homes. Pawprints UK companions are expected to undertake one hour visits to water, feed and walk dogs or feed and water cats or small animals. You provide companionship during their owner's absence. Often these are clients that commute to work and require us to care for their pet(s) daily.

Additional duties may require you to take in the mail, draw curtains, switch lights on or off etc.

What is required by Pawprints UK?

  • We expect all our Pawprints UK Companions to be an existing or previous pet owner and to have a minimum of 3 years experience.
  • You need to be in good health and reasonably fit.
  • We require all Pawprints UK Companions to be Police checked.
  • Home sitting assignments will only be offered to non-smokers.
  • Boarders must have a local authority license (Pawprints will assist with the application of licensing)
  • Previous/existing employers will be contacted for references.
  • You do not need to be a car owner, but it is not always possible to undertake assignments without the use of a car

Many of our Companions are retired people or couples who want to work during retirement, this type of work is ideally suited to them. It not only allows them to maintain their fitness but gives them the flexibility to take up family commitments when needed. We do however consider all applications on merit.

If you enjoy the outdoor life and have a real love of animals, and wish to be employed in work that you enjoy whilst earning some extra money then Pawprints UK is for you.
